This painting, entitled “Iniko”, was inspired by the courageous baby condor whose name means “born in troubled times” in the

Nigerian language. It looks forward to a time of healing, not only for the endangered California condor, but for all beings and the

planet. By 1982, California condors were nearly extinct with only 23 left in the wild. In 1987, the remaining wild condors were

captured and put into a captive breeding program. Iniko is descended from those condors.
